C.R. Laurence (CRL) of Europe announced the acquisition of Glasteknik S. Thorball ApS, a glass tools, accessories and machinery distributor based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The move comes on the heels of the company’s recent acquisition of Vitrododi of Milan, and takes its coverage of the European market into the whole of Scandinavia.
“We have had a long association with Thorball. They have developed a highly respected reputation in the region, from their strategic base in Copenhagen, Denmark, and are ideally placed to serve the Scandinavian and Baltic regions,” says Lloyd Talbert, president of CRL. “We have already begun the process to relocate the company into a larger 30,000-square-foot facility to ensure we can enhance services to this region. As part of our ongoing European strategy we will make our entire CRL product line of some 50,000 products available from our Scandinavian branch as soon as possible. In addition we are proud to welcome all of Thorball’s staff into the CRL family, and we will be recruiting additional sales team members soon.”
Talbert adds, “We are especially pleased that Jesper Andersen, the managing director of Glasteknik S. Thorball, will be staying on with us to head up our Scandinavian operations. Jesper is well known and respected throughout the industry, having developed a fine reputation while building Thorball into a leader in its market.”
The company will be renamed C.R. Laurence of Scandinavia ApS, and the expanded business unit will service all of Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltic States from its new location.
