German company to set up glass beads project in Gabes

TUNISIAONLINENEWS- A project for producing glass beads, the first of its kind in Africa and in the Arab region, is currently underway by the German group “Weissker” in Bouchamma in the governorate of Gabes.

Investments of around 56 million dinars were allocated to this project, which will generate 350 jobs.

The project, fully oriented towards export, is ranked 3rd at the international level thanks to the initial production capacity of 60, 000 tones which will reach 200, 000 tones.

In a first step, the project will focus on recycling of glass from Europe and Tunisia, to produce in a second stage the material used in the manufacture of glass beads.

The German company chose the region of Gabes because of its favorable investment climate (logistics, commercial port, airport, skilled workforce).
