26 wineries to participate in Corning Museum of Glass event

The Corning Museum of Glass will kick off its 60th anniversary year with a celebration next week.

 

The museum’s 2300° 1951 event, which will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, will include live music, glassmaking demonstrations and free wine tastings by 26 regional wineries.

 

Djug Django, a gypsy swing band whose name is pronounced “jug jango,” will perform ’50s music. Event participants will watch as Annette Sheppard and others from the museum’s Hot Glass Show on Celebrity Cruises create sea-inspired pieces.

 

Admission is free. Free soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and other food will be available for purchase.

 

The following wineries will participate in the event: Anthony Road Wine Co.; Atwater Estate, Casa Larga, Fox Run, Hunt Country, Keuka Lake, Lakewood, McGregor, Rooster Hill, Six Mile Creek, Standing Stone and Wagner vineyards; Buttonwood Grove, Cascata, Fulkerson, Heron Hill, Knapp, Montezuma, Prejean and White Springs wineries; Chateau LaFayette Reneau; Damiani, Dr. Frank’s Vinifera, Glenora and Miles wine cellars; and Hickory Hollow/Highland Cellars.

 

Free shuttle bus service from the museum’s Interstate 86 parking lot is available.

 

The 2300° series will continue through May 26. The themes will be Blue Sky on Feb. 17; Majority Rules, featuring female artists, on March 17; and the second annual GlassFest on May 26.

 

The museum is at 1 Museum Way, Corning.
