China Glass NetworkWhen the device made its debut at CES 2011 last week, albeit just the prototype, the LG G-Slate tablet, which will be powered by Android 3.0 Honeycomb, was sort of overlooked by tech journalists due to the company’s reluctance or inability to provide more details of it. Yet, rumors being to spread that the LG G-Slate may just feature glasses-free 3D display ala the Nintendo 3DS. It’s safe to say that the rumors can now be put to rest.

According to reports, the 8.9-inch 4G tablet will not feature glasses-free 3D display. It will, however, feature the ability to snap 3D pictures. Color us interested then, though we find it a bit silly that you won’t be able to view the pictures that you take with the tablet itself. Hmm, perhaps the company intends to charge an exorbitant price for the 3D glasses that users must buy.

So, while we’re not going to be seeing tablets with glasses-free 3D display soon, there are some smartphones that will feature the new technology, such as the one that’s expected to come to Sprint in the first semester of the year.

More details and information about LG G-Slate, which will run on T-Mobile’s network, will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Spain.
