Solar Innovations' Corporate Headquarters Achieves LEED Gold

Solar Innovations Inc. announced it has earned LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for its new, 200,000-square-foot facility located in the Pine Grove Industrial Park, Pine Grove, Pa. The Solar Innovations LEED team was granted 62 points toward the LEED-EB:OM v2009 Certification.

According to the announcement, the LEED team compiled the required data and implemented required programs to further Solar Innovations’ green efforts as well as to provide quantifiable documentation for the Green Building Certification Institute. The company says it has future plans for the building which will allow it to achieve Platinum certification in the next two years by providing 40 percent of the company’s energy usage through the first phase of a solar photovoltaic system. The installation of 250kw solar panels has begun, which will be the first phase of a planned 1mw system. A solar thermal system has also been added to the building to provide domestic hot water to the office building and on site greenhouse.
