Officials at the National Glass Association, McLean, Va., announced the keynote speakers for the 6th Annual Glazing Executives Forum to be held Sept. 12, in conjunction with GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo, Sept. 12-14, at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta.
Kevin Surace, CEO, Serious Materials, Sunnyvale, Calif., will open the day with a presentation on opportunities for glaziers in energy efficient projects. He was Inc. Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009. Serious Materials provides high-tech products and services that reduce energy usage in the built environment, the largest contributor of CO2 worldwide. Surace will highlight his firm’s involvement in retrofitting the Empire State Building and other projects.
Jeff Dietrich of senior analyst, Institute for Trend Research, Concord, N.H. will present his annual economic forecast. Back by popular demand, Dietrich mixes his accurate information with humor and insight. The day also will feature eight breakout discussion groups led by industry experts on important topics to glazing professionals. Tentative topics include Bidding and Estimating, Contract and Legal Issues, and Project Management.
“The Glazing Executives Forum is one of the most important dates on the glazier’s calendar,” said Rick Hamlin, Trainor Glass, Alsip, Ill., chair of NGA’s Architectural Glazing Committee. “This year, attendees can be confident that they’ll be getting practical, relevant information that they can take back to their offices and start implementing.”
Registration for the 2011 Glazing Executives Forum, sponsored by Carson & Coil, GTS, and Guardian, will open in late April.
