LAS VEGAS, NV - Judge Kathleen E. Delaney will be taking over for Judge Jackie Glass, who is stepping down from the bench on June 10th to take over as host of the syndicated TV series "Swift Justice," until a permanent judge can be appointed by the Commission on Judicial Selection.
Delaney will preside over the specialty courts in the Eighth Judicial District and take over Glass' caseload including drug, drunken driving and competency cases in addition a criminal calendar and fill-in for mental health court, according to a press release issued by officials at the Regional Justice Center.
"Judge Delaney is an outstanding professional that will bring the kind of experience and temperament that will serve the specialty courts well," said District Court Chief Judge Jennifer P. Togliatti. "I look forward to having her energy and insight in this very important role."
The Commission on Judicial Selection will recommend three candidates to the governor for his selection for appointment to fill the vacant seat left by Judge Glass' departure.
The process is expected to take several months.
Judge Delaney's current caseload will be reassigned.
