2012 China’s Largest LCD Glass Substrate Will Be Put into Operation in Shenzhen

(China glass network) China's largest LCD glass substrate will be put into operation next year in Guangming new area. The news was from the Asahi Glass 8.5-generation TFT-LCD glass substrate groundbreaking ceremony by the reporter.

Asahi Section 8.5 generation TFT-LCD glass substrate project is one of major construction projects in Shenzhen in 2011. Provincial Party Committee, Party Secretary Wang Rong announced the project started; Mayor Xu Qin, Hong Tajiri from the Japanese Consul General in Guangzhou and TCL Chairman Li Dongsheng and other leaders attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

It is said that, glass substrates sharing of Asahi Glass ranks second in the world. It is Japan’s century-old company which belongs to a part of Mitsubishi Group companies, currently has more than 200 subsidiaries. Its flat glass, automotive glass and the plasma panel glass substrate market share ranks first in the world. Asahi Glass is the only float process manufacturer in the world.

Xu Qin said in his speech, Asahi Glass TFT-LCD glass substrate construction project is significant to improve the city's flat panel display industry chain, and also to accelerate the development of strategic new industries.

Asahi Glass plans to invest 22 billion yen, building a precision grinding production line of monthly production of 120K on-chip 8.5-generation TFT-LCD glass substrate (size 2200mm2500mm) in Guangming New high-tech industrial park, which will produce the maximum size of China's first 8.5-generation TFT glass. It plans to put into operation in autumn next year. According to reports, the factory is near to the TCL investment Huaxing Power first 8.5 generation LCD panel project because its glass substrate will be designed for Huaxing power. The project is scheduled to enter production in August this year.
