Residents can no longer place out container glass with their curbside recycling in the RDOS, City of Penticton, Town of Oliver, Town of Osoyoos or Village of Keremeos. Free container glass depots have been set up a number of businesses and all landfills across theRDOS.
In Penticton depots are set up at the J & C Bottle Depot at 200 Rosetown Ave and BFI Canada at 1200 Carmi Ave. In Oliver a glass bin has been set up at the T-2 Market at 33846 97 Street. In Osoyoos, the Osoyoos Bottle Depot at 8305 - 72nd Ave will also accept container glass free of charge. These depots are only open during the normal business hours. Contact the businesses directly for hours of operation.
Residents can also bring container glass for free to all local Landfills in the RDOS. The landfills include the Campbell Mountain (in Penticton), Okanagan Falls, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos, Summerland and Princeton Landfills. The glass collected will be used at local landfills as road base and landfill cover.
Container glass includes all clear and coloured bottles and jars. No window, table, lighting or mirror glass will be accepted. Window, table, lighting or mirror glass should be brought to local landfills for safe disposal.
Returnable beverage containers can be brought back to places of purchase or local bottle depots. Visit www.return-it.ca for details. All glass collected in the beverage return program is reused or recycled back into beverage containers.
