IT'S one of the oldest human arts, dating back 3000 years.
From glass bead making in ancient Egypt to the patterned window frames that illuminate medieval churches, glass art has always been admired for its utility and beauty.
Now Forest Lake resident and president of the Creative Glass Guild Chris Scott is showcasing this creative medium in a unique exhibition.
The Creative Glass Guild of Queensland will hold its 17th annual exhibition of glass works this weekend (July 23 and 24) at the auditorium at Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens.
More than 70 guild members will display glass work and their unique pieces for sale.
Ms Scott has been involved with creative glass making for the past few years, and said she'd always loved the beautiful qualities and diverse colours of glass.
“It's an art form anyone can do,” she said.
“I don't consider myself to be overly artistic but I love gaining experience and learning new techniques.
“There are so many different colours and textures you can work with using glass.”
As well as the art displays, members will give demonstrations and answer questions about glass art techniques.
The exhibition will be open from 9am to 4pm. Parking is free and admission is $5 per person (children 12 and younger are free).
