Taipei, July 26, 2011 (CENS)--Aiming for a 25% share of the Taiwanese market for LCD TVs this year, LG has announced its alliance with local 3D product retailer Tsann Kuen Group, going to spend over NT$10 million to set up a 3D experience store in the partner`s flagship stores.

LG indicated that the 3D experience store will display and sell varieties of LCD TVs, handsets and tablet PCs featuring 3D views of images, with Tsann Kuen confirming that the form of the cooperation will be first materialized at its flagship store in Neihu Dist., northern Taipei, and will then be duplicated in its five brand new ones that will be set up separately in northern, central and southern Taiwan by the end of this year.

To challenge Sony`s lead in Taiwan`s LCD TV market, LG has focused promotion on 3D models for a while, and has seen its sales of such products steadily grow month by month this year. The Korean brand has expanded its LCD TV portfolio with 42- 47-, 55- and 65-inch models, all of which feature 3D views and Internet accesses, in an effort to further fuel the growth momentum and attain a 25% share of the market in the year. For the moment, LG has commanded a 19% share of the market, compared to 22% posted by Sony.

On the other hand, Tsann Kuen has also steeply cut selling prices of LCD TVs on its product shelves to attract local consumers, aiming to seize the huge business potential following the government`s policy of officially shutting down analog broadcasting on July 1, 2012, which market observers think is likely to push up Taiwan`s overall LCD TV sales to between 1.2 million and 1.25 million units this year.
