The Glass Association of North America (GANA) of Topeka, Kan., has released three technical documents for the industry on its website. Two of the documents are new glass informational bulletins (GIB), while the other is a document updated for the first time in seven years. All three documents are available for download at no charge on its website at
"GANA's members have worked hard to create these valuable documents for the industry, and we are pleased to add them to our increasing library of resources available on our website," says Ashley Charest, GANA account executive. "The glass and glazing industry continuously looks to the technical expertise of GANA members for solutions and ideas that create opportunity for all." The two GIBs come from two sources: the GANA Mirror Division and the organization as a whole. The association-wide document, titled Dynamic Glazing for High Performance Buildings, discusses the characteristics of dynamic glazing that can mitigate the influence of the sun and other environmental forces. The second GIB, titled Installation Techniques Designed to Prolong the Life of Flat Glass Mirrors, offers important installation recommendations to help protect the silver in mirror from corrosion and prolong the life of the mirror. The newly revised Mirrors: Handle with Extreme Care looks at a variety of mirror handling issues through fabrication, shipping, cutting and installing. It is the first revision of the document since its 2004 version, which was an update of a document created decades ago by the North American Association of Mirror Manufacturers (NAAMM), which merged into GANA in 1999 as the Mirror Division.
