The Independent Glass Association (IGA) has announced that it has re-launched its efforts to create technology standards for the industry. The group originally had announced this goal
"We were primed and ready to make a difference in the industry," says Alan Epley, owner of Southern Glass and Plastics and current IGA president. "We realized, however, that IGA needed to make a change at the top to better prepare us for the successes we anticipate from this and other efforts. While it was an unfortunate block in the road, we are past that now and ready to proceed at full speed." IGA officials say their goal is to "streamline the entire insurance claims process" through the use of technology. The association currently is looking for industry representatives to serve on a variety of committees, related to first notice of loss/electronic assignment, electronic inspection, electronic audit, provider data repository, and electronic invoicing, according to a
The committees, once formed, will meet via conference call during the week of October 24, and will establish missions and objectives at that time, as well as a timeline for accomplishing goals. Membership in IGA is not a requirement to serve on the various committees, according to the association. The deadline for joining the first conference calls is October 14.
