Mike Boyle to Leave Auto Glass Industry with Sale of Surface Dynamix

Post Time:Oct 14,2011Classify:Industry NewsView:566

Surface Dynamix president Mike Boyle has announced that he has sold the company to several employees, including his son, Chris Boyle, with whom he founded the company last December. With this move, Mike Boyle says he is retiring from the auto glass industry.

Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

"It has been an interesting ten years,” says Mike Boyle. “There has been far too much misinformation, and an appalling lack of concern for quality of repair permeating throughout the industry. The result is lack of consumer confidence and an immeasurable cost to the environment. I have made it my aim to push the industry to become more accountable for the quality of windshield repair being done in the marketplace. If I have any lasting legacy in the repair industry, I hope that it is that message that I worked so fervently to spread.”

Chris Boyle has been named president of Surface Dynamix. Don Gregor, whom Boyle says also was involved in the start-up of Surface Dynamix, has been named general manager.

Mike Boyle will work with the company in a consulting role during a transition period, he says, and then plans to launch a new venture.

At press time Mike Boyle was unavailable for further comment.
