Issue the Guide of Preventing Occupational Disease in Quartz Sand Processing

(China Glass Network) Recently, Safety Supervision Bureau of Anhui Province issued the ‘Guide of Preventing Occupational Disease in Quartz Sand Processing (Trial)’. It standardized the basic requirements for designing, testing, assessing, managing and supervising for preventing occupational diseases in quartz processing further, better guaranteeing lives and health of laborer.

‘Guide’ points out that the quartz processing enterprises are responsible for the management of occupational health. Processing enterprises are strictly prohibited to use the production technology (such as hand charging, air drying raw material outdoor etc.)banned by nation, but encouraged to employ the wet production process. The production process also shall be enclosed, mechanization and automation. The production capacity can’t be less than 20 thousand tons in dry method, 10 thousand tons in wet method. And the new company can’t produce less than 100 thousand tons in dry method, 50 thousand tons in wet method.

It regulates that quartz sand processing enterprise should set ventilating, dusting, expelling poison, shielding and other protection facilities from occupational diseases. Enterprises also need to strengthen the source management of occupational diseases. Construction projects must be done pre-assessment, designed of prevention facilities for occupational diseases and evaluated the effect of control over occupational diseases. Testing of occupational hazardous factors must be conducted one time every year, and the assessment of current situation of occupational hazards shall be carried out one time every three years.
