Glass Systems, the UK’s largest independent sealed unit manufacturers, has recently expanded its delivery fleet by investing in 2 new 18 ton Mercedes Axors. The new additions were supplied by Euro Commercials in Swansea and will enable Glass Systems to supply their ever increasing customer base with greater efficiency.
Managing Director Alan Atkinson comments: “Fabricators and installers often work to very tight deadlines and the new vehicles mean we can continue to offer our customers a fast and efficient turnaround. We have experienced an increase in volume over the last 18 months, with production growing from 28,000 units per week to 36,000 units. These latest two lorries mean we have increased the fleet by seven new vehicles in the same period, and it gives our logistics department the tools they need to supply this increased demand.”
The new Mercedes Axors are the latest in a long line of investments made by Glass Systems over the last 18 months.
Late last year they became the first company in the UK to purchase a Lisec BSV 45 ANK, a piece of machinery that bends Swisspacer V spacer bar. This followed the installation of three online gas presses, enabling the company to gas fill glass units in high volumes.
This year has seen expansion at Glass Systems Direct Ltd with an additional unit being occupied and the investment in a second Bystronic sealed unit lines for this site.
This was shortly followed by the installation of a new Lisec KSR arising line at Climate, to cope with the need to automatically arris the increased volumes of shaped toughened the expansion of the roof glass line is creating.
