Moffett Towers Installs Glass MODE Recycled Porcelain in California Office Project

A recycled porcelain product by GLASS RECYCLED was recently installed in all the high-rise buildings of Moffett Towers, a 1.8 million square feet premier Class A office, research and development campus in Sunnyvale, California in the heart of Silicone Valley. This seven-building complex is situated on 52 acres with unobstructed views of San Francisco Bay, with each building being an architectural masterpiece of steel, stone and glass.

According to interior designer Rick Salangsang of DES Architect + Engineers, "GLASS RECYCLED's GlassMODE product is a unique and appropriate solution to sustainable design. With our firm working toward the environmentally responsible LEED certification, it made sense to use a material made largely from recycled materials as part of the projects eco-friendly theme.

GlassMODE uses factory-second toilets and grinds the porcelain into chips, then mixes them with a durable epoxy to make a beautiful, hard surface for bathrooms. And while DES Architect + Engineers selected a neutral base to contribute a timeless look, custom designs can be created by specifying an epoxy color that can be matched to virtually color and creating stunning designs with the inclusion of various color recycled glass chips.

With a full commitment to the vision of the project, the firm chose to utilize this recycled material for each and every restroom vanity thorough the entire Moffett Tower complex.

GlassMODE was selected over a number of other hard surface materials including custom cast concrete and quartz stones because it 'had more character and was price competitive - as well as the fact it contributed a LEED credit, Materials & Resources Credit 4 for recycled content and helped gain a LEED silver certification for the project," according to Salangsang.

Moffett Towers is just one of the many significant projects using GlassMODE, including Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, Dow Chemical World Headquarters in Houston, Texas, Children's Museum of Phoenix, Arizona and the ITT Corporate World Headquarters in White Plains, New York.

For a limited time, GLASS RECYCLED is giving clients the chance to experience this great product - as well as a number of other recycled glass applications for residential and commercial use, by kicking off their January
