Post Time:Feb 09,2012Classify:Company NewsView:413

Guardian Industries, a manufacturer of float glass, fiberglass insulation, fabricated glass products, and various other building materials, has expanded its collaborative development program (CDP) and technology licensing contract with Intermolecular, a provider of a proprietary platform to accelerate R&D for the clean-energy and semiconductor sectors.

The collaboration enables development of advanced glass coatings, most of them associated to energy generation or saving.

High-Productivity Combinatorial (HPC) platform of Intermolecular speed up time-to-market Guardian’s new glass products. The newly extended contract will allow both the companies to partner on several technology development projects.

President of Flat Glass Group of Guardian, Scott Thomsen stated that the projects with Intermolecular to develop high-quality liquid and sputtered glass coatings are continuing to be successful as expected by the company. Intermolecular's clean energy group Senior VP and general manager, Craig Hunter also added that the integration of its R&D model with Guardian’s commercial expertise and its outstanding technical team will bring superior products to market at the earliest.

The major objective of Intermolecular is to enhance R&D in the clean-energy and semiconductor markets via several partnerships with companies that use its proprietary HPC platform. The platform enables R&D testing to be carried out at nearly 100 times faster speeds when compared to traditional methods.
