Both the Auto Glass Safety Council (formerly the AGRSS Council Inc.) and the National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA) held top leadership meetings in Fort Myers, Fla., this week, with the last meetings ending today.

The board of directors of the Auto Glass Safety Council met Tuesday in closed session to complete and update its strategic and long-range planning. "We had a great meeting," said Auto Glass Safety Council president Deb Levy, "and I believe we have a great blueprint for the future of the organization.

Levy said the Council's Education, Marketing and Standards Committees also met. "One focus of both the Education Committee and Marketing Committee was the integration of technical-based auto glass certification with the AGRSS-Registered Company program," she added. "After a lot of discussion with a number of excellent ideas, a task force was formed to complete the integration."

The Standards Council discussed both the organization's name change and the new updated Standard, which should be accepted by ANSI before the end of the year. "We are still calling the Standard the AGRSS Standard," said Standards Committee Chair Bob Beranek. "It just that it is now developed by the Auto Glass Safety Council."

The NWRA's Repair of Laminated Auto Glass (ROLAGS) Committee also held one of its semi-annual meetings. Chief among the discussions was advancement and awareness of the Standard. The NWRA's board of directors also meet and focused heavily on its certification and marketing efforts as well.

All the groups are next scheduled to meet during Auto Glass Week™™, September 20-22 in Louisville, Ky.
