Demand for Low-e Glass Gradually Increased

(China Glass Network) The market penetration of low-e glass is only 10% in China, lower than developed countries. There is an almighty gap between China and Germany or South Korea which possesses high market penetration. It exists great potential market in China.

Some related policies are issued to promote the development of low-e glass. “Plan of Green Energy-saving Building” will be issued, which is compiled by National Development & Reform Commission and Ministry of Housing & Urban-Rural Development. The plan makes detail requirements about energy-saving standards of new and reconstructed buildings. And it also points out the green energy-saving standards will be enforced gradually in the future. The plan is good for low-e glass from the aspects of policy and demand.

The application fields of offline and online low-e glass will be divided. Because their performance and production technology are different, as well as respective advantages. We think that online low-e glass will be more used in civil buildings whose energy-saving index is low. And offline low-e glass will be more applied in public buildings and high-end civil constructions which have high energy-saving index

There are some problems limiting the development of low-e glass. First, policies are not enough to provide favorable environment for develop low-e glass. Second, compared to ordinary flat glass, the cost of low-e glass remains high. Third, the market is full of low-end low-e glass, preventing health development of low-e glass.
