Our newest show, 'Glass eggstravaganza,' was born from ongoing customer requests for glass eggs, blown hollow or solid, full of bright vibrant colors as well as traditional spring pastels. Artist Michelle Plucinsky explains, "So many people love our work but felt we had a void in our products for the Easter/Spring season. The glass eggs were just a start. Once we got rolling, we came up with a whole new line of birds, chicks, nests, and more. Everyone is going to be thrilled to have this new work!"
"Absolutely charming!" exclaims Melissa Byle, the gallery coordinator at the Glass Academy. When asked to describe the new glass birds called 'Vetro Chicks,' Melissa states, "They are all so unique. Each has its own character and qualities and you're just drawn to them to find the one that represents you the best! I can see a family wanting the Momma, Poppa, and all sorts of baby chickadees!"
These birds have a contemporary retro flair yet they are classic enough to please most everyone. Some are made with 100% recycled glass, while others boast vibrant colors made with natural elements such as cobalt and gold.
Each item at the show is individually hand sculpted using traditional glass crafting techniques and Master glassblowers will be performing live glassblowing demonstrations during the show both days from 10-4pm. "The fact that you can custom design work and see it made in front of your eyes is spectacular! The Glass Academy has so much skill and talent; we are so proud they are here in Dearborn educating and entertaining audiences statewide," comments Jennifer Giering, president of the Dearborn Chamber.
Be sure to come early to get the best pick of eggs for your basket along with nests and birds for your shelves. Quantities are limited and once we're sold out we won't be making more until next year. The show runs from 10am until 4pm both days with all works for sale and pricing starting at $25. Custom orders accepted, Visa and MasterCard honored.
