Post Time:Mar 13,2012Classify:Company NewsView:364

As the Auto Glass Week™ event in Louisville, Ky., approaches many companies are preparing technicians for the auto glass repair and replacement competitions. Glass Doctor is holding four preliminary feeder competitions across the company to ultimately choose two technicians to represent the company in the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Olympics taking place September 21-22, 2012 in Louisville, Ky.

“We are using the same score sheet that is used at the Pilkington competition,” says Doug Dotson, vice president of franchise relations and training at Glass Doctor. “Frank Levesque and I are doing the scoring and we have already completed the competitions in Sacramento and Dallas. We will also be holding competitions in Atlanta and Cleveland.”

The top two scoring contestants will win the chance to compete in the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Olympics in September. Glass Doctor accepted applications from technicians and narrowed the field down to two contestants in each region to compete head-to-head.

“We want to bring our brand to the Auto Glass Week competition,” says Dotson. “It is an exciting event and when you go to Auto Glass Week the whole show stops during the competitions to watch and we want to bring that excitement to our company.”

Glass Doctor’s Atlanta feeder competition will take place April 12-14 and the Cleveland competition will take place during the first week of May.

Auto Glass Week 2012 will be held September 20-22. The Exhibition/Extravaganza will be held September 21-22, 2012.

Auto Glass Week will bring together all of the major auto glass groups, including the Auto Glass Safety Council (formerly the AGRSS Council Inc.), Independent Glass Association (IGA), National Glass Association (NGA), the National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA), along with AGRR™ magazine's Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Olympics and Walt Gorman Memorial Windshield Repair Olympics. The International Window Film Conference and Tint-Off™ also will be held concurrently. The event is managed by AGRR magazine.
