(China Glass Network) “Development Plan for Xinjiang Solar Photovoltaic Industry (2011-2015)”, issued by the Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, says that Xinjiang will achieve polysilicon of more than 10000 tons, crystal silicon wafer of 2000 megawatts, photovoltaic battery of 600 megawatts, photovoltaic cell module seal capacity of 1000 megawatts by 2015. In addition, it’s planned to cultivate 2-3 large photovoltaic enterprises with annual output value of more than 10 billion yuan, 3-5 large-scale solar comprehensive application demonstration areas. And the annual output value will reach 50 billion yuan. Xinjiang strives to become Chinese important solar photovoltaic industrial base and high-end large-scale comprehensive application demonstration area.
During “Twelfth Five Years Plan”, Xinjiang will construct silicon, solar cell module seal and solar photovoltaic power generation system integration manufacturing bases in Urumqi, Shihezi, Kuitun and Alard, initially build comprehensive application demonstration areas of solar photovoltaic power generation in North Xinjiang, Southern Xinjiang and East Xinjiang, speed up the transformation and use of solar energy and desert resources, develop the construction of large photovoltaic grid power plant, promote the application of solar photovoltaic power generation technology. Therefore, the installed capacity of Xinjiang photovoltaic generation will be more than 2000 megawatts by 2015.
Xinjiang has exceptional advantages for developing solar photovoltaic industry. The annual solar radiation is 5300-6700 megajoule per meter. And peak sunshine time is 1600-2200 hours. The Altay Mountain and Tianshan Mountain have rich quartz silicon resources.
After more than ten years’ development, Xinjiang has built relatively complete photovoltaic industry chains of high purity polycrystalline silicon, wafers, solar cell module, photovoltaic inverter, photovoltaic power generation system.
