With the growth of emerging markets and the increase in urban violence, people are more and more concerned with safety and protection. In Brazil, this reality led DuPont to use its DuPont™ Kevlar® aramid fiber, SentryGlas® interlayers and Spallshield® composite technologies to develop DuPont™ Armura® vehicle armoring, which recently saved another life during an attempted robbery in São Paulo.
“I was traveling along a major avenue downtown when I was approached by a person with a gun. I felt completely safe to drive away from the location, as I knew I was in a protected vehicle. I felt as if I were inside a suit of armor,” said Marcy de Campos Verde, a senior security consultant, whose car was targeted by criminals. “Because of this experience, I recommend armoring with DuPont™ Armura®, which is quite a viable solution. It's worth it to have more safety and protect oneself against urban violence.”
DuPont™ Armura® car armoring system was launched in 2008 and, in addition to its reasonable cost, adds only about 90 kg to a vehicle’s weight, preserving fuel consumption and the lifetime of automotive components.
Developed in collaboration with car manufacturers and distributors,
“It's very good to realize all our efforts, working closely with our value chain are helping to protect people every day,” said Carlos Benatto, business manager for DuPont™ Armura®. “I am very proud to work for a company like DuPont, where our technology has such an impact.”
