Sandy, Utah-based Techna Glass is already preparing contestants for the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Olympics™ and the Walt Gorman Memorial Windshield Repair Olympics™. The company held internal windshield repair and replacement competitions to determine which of the company’s technicians would be traveling to Auto Glass Week™ in September for the competitions.
Jon Barney and Chris Smith took the top two spots in the repair competition. Chris Smith also placed at the top with Nick Gittins in the company’s replacement competition. All three technicians will be traveling to Auto Glass Week to compete in the national repair and replacement competitions.
“I’m excited and honored to represent Techna Glass at nationals,” says Chris Smith, who took second place in both the repair and installation competitions. “This is a wonderful opportunity.”
Techna Glass’ used the same judging criteria as the national competitions use and contestants are judged on workmanship, technique, customer service and interaction. All Techna Glass contestants are invited to compete in the company’s feeder competition. This year 21 technicians competed in four days of preliminary rounds. The top six competitors were named finalists and competed for the top two spots.
