(China Glass Network) On September 19, general secretary of Guangdong Glass industry association Huang Shaota said in the third industrial fuel meeting, “Under the new situation, glass industry faces with serious problem of high cost. We are actively looking for clean and cheap energy supply.”

He added, “China has the largest glass production in word. Till the end of 2011, our country’s flat glass capacity is 914 ministry weight cases, more than half of the world capacity. Especially in Guangdong province, it has become the main flat glass base of deep-processing, production and export.”

Impacted by the national macro economic change and the slowdown of real estate, glass development speed slows down obviously. The price decreases accordingly. Meanwhile, the prices of soda ash, coal, natural glass and electricity keep rising and the financial cost as salary adds, which lead to the production cost of glass enterprises. Many glass enterprises confront with the cost problems.

“Natural gas as one of the clean energy is more suitable for glass industry than heavily oil. But, the cost of natural glass takes more than 37 percent of the total glass production cost. Therefore, many glass enterprises want to find another energy supply with low cost and little pollution to reduce the cost of glass production.” said Huang Shaota.
