Isofoton today announced it has obtained solar photovoltaic cells with 19.5% efficiency, over half a point more than its highest efficiency rates previously obtained through conventional manufacturing technologies.
Isofoton has increased its cells’ efficiency by more than half a point by using a laser-based selective emitter manufacturing process to produce 10,000 cells.
With this new cell technology, the company hopes to obtain 60-cell modules with a 265-watt power rating; the company says the standard with conventional processes is 240 to 250 watts.
