(China Glass Network)Villa Ocampo in Argentina is emerging as a center for alternative energy as a result of a new round of the Citizen Assemblies held in late 2012.
SolarAl Usina's program for manufacturing solar water heaters is underway with local entrepreneurs, and it has now added a pilot solar power plant to be built in the city. The installation of a photovoltaic plant of 1 MW of power to strengthen the power distribution networks to the north of the province. It expects to generate over 12,000MW per a year of electricity with photovoltaic modules and deliver it to the distribution network of the province, helping to diversify the energy mix in favour of renewables.
It aims to harness an abundant amount solar irradiation to increase the capacity, the quantity and quality of the electricity supply of the Provincial Energy Company (EPE) and develop an industrial sector related to renewable energy. Based on the success of this project it will continue with a program of installation of photovoltaic plants of different powers to improve the quality of electric power distribution lines in the province.
Continuing the theme of energy infrastructure, the strategic plan "Vision 2030" Villa Ocampo provides for the installation of a power-house as part of the National Plan of distributed generation, work designed by the national company ENARSA (Energía Argentina Sociedad Anonima) and the expansion of the national transport network, with the addition of a new node interconnecting it and the provincial transportation network through the installation of a transformer station generating 500/132 kV 150 MVA.of power.
