A leak from a glass furnace occurred at 3 a.m. this morning at PPG Industries’ Carlisle, Pa., flat glass plant, according to a statement from the company.

“Molten glass leaked from the furnace into the plant’s basement area,” reads the company’s official statement. “The leak has been stopped and contained. The incident is under investigation.”

According to the statement, the local fire department came to the plant to assist with containing the leak, and though some local news stations reported that there was a fire at the plant, “there was no fire associated with this incident.”

No injuries were reported, and PPG officials say they do “not anticipate any environmental issues or production interruption.”

PPG’s Carlisle plant manufactures flat glass for use in the solar, residential and commercial construction markets.
