Post Time:Feb 21,2013Classify:Industry NewsView:328

MUMBAI: Over 5,000 vehicles with tinted glass have been penalized by the Thane rural traffic police. The police posted teams at toll nakas at Achchad near Talasari and Kasara Ghat to catch such vehicles before they could enter the region. Motorists using the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway were checked and the offenders fined Rs 100. Owners/drivers of VIPs and politicians' vehicles have also not been spared in the drive.

The Mumbai traffic police had begun a drive against tinted glass early this year.

A Supreme Court order had prohibited the use of black film of any visual light transmission percentage or any other material upon safety glasses, windscreens (front and rear) and side glasses of vehicles throughout the country.
