2nd International Summer School on Nuclear Glass  Wasteform at Pont du Gard (France) Sept 22-28, 2013 - 2nd International Summer School on Nuclear Glass Wasteform: Structure, Properties and Long-Term Behaviour (SumGLASS 2013), is being organised by the CEA-AREVA Joint Vitrification Lab at the site of Pont du Gard (France) from September 22 to 28, 2013.

Following the first Summer School in 1997 at Méjannes-le-Clap, SumGLASS 2013 will review the state of the art and reflect on scientific issues in the following areas: the vitreous state; relationships between composition, structure and properties; long-term behaviour of the glass in geological disposal conditions. In addition to pooling knowledge, the work in each subject area will subsequently provide guidelines for internal R&D and joint programmes to meet the medium- and long-term scientific and industrial objectives of developing high-performance matrices capable of being produced by reliable and robust processes.

For information, the identified sessions are the following:

1- Vitrification: general aspects,

2- Vitreous state: from structure to properties,

3- Glass melt chemistry,

4- Physical glass melt properties,

5- Glass behaviour in the presence of water,

6- Glass behaviour in closed systems.
