Czech glass blowing show

A THREE-DAY live Glass Blowing Show and Exhibition on Czech Glass and Porcelain, being organised by the Czech government, kicks off at the Alhamra Arts Council, The Mall, on Wednesday.

 

Salima Hashmi, Provincial Health Minister, inaugurated the event as chief guest while Czech Republic Ambassador Miroslav Krenek also came from Islamabad to participate as guest of honor. A large number of people from different walks of life, students and mediamen also attended the opening ceremony. The event will be continued till Friday. The Zech government through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs is hosting the above show and exhibition as part of their initiative to enhance cultural cooperation and economic linkages with Pakistan.

 

Mr Jiri Pacinek, who is leading the exhibition, has taught and been associated with top glass institutes of the world, AJETO and Novobor, in the Czech Republic and Leon Applebaum, USA.

 

Talking to The News, Jiri said he had brought glass from Czech Republic to Pakistan to introduce this unique work to art students and art lovers of this country. According to him, learning art of glass blowing is a tough and time taking process. Jiri further said he owned a studio in Czech where he continued such kind of experiments regularly.
