The UK glass manufacturing operation of Guardian Industries global glass group will host a Triple Anniversary Celebration (1, 5 and 10 years) to recognize its consistent growth over a decade of challenge and change.
Guardian will officially unveil its new advanced magnetron sputter coater to the glass and glazing industry on Tuesday, June 11 at its Goole plant in northern England.
In 2003, Guardian began operations at its UK float glass plant in Goole with an investment of more than $150 million (£100 million). In 2008, Guardian expanded its facility to include a glass laminating line. Last year the Goole plant added the glass coater; the latest in glass technology designed to enhance and expand the high value glass products available from Guardian in the region.
The new coater allows the Goole plant to produce high performance Guardian ClimaGuard low-E glass products. These products meet or exceed local energy standards and regulations, satisfy aesthetic and design requirements and provide shorter lead times for most projects.
The June 11 celebration starts at 10:30 a.m. (BST), and will feature a keynote presentation by Scott Thomsen, president of Guardian’s Global Flat Glass Division; a ribbon-cutting ceremony; tour of the plant, coater and laminating line; a visit to the interactive glass room and new products display; and lunch.
Mark Bristow, Guardian regional manager for the UK and Ireland said the company felt there was reason to celebrate. “We have successfully navigated a double dip recession and managed to achieve growth at a time when many well-established companies have fallen short,” said Bristow. “We greatly attribute this success to our ‘best-in-service’ approach and our commitment to the independent glass and glazing industry that has shown the same strength and ability to adapt that we have. This mutual support and success is certainly something to be celebrated.”
The plant is located on Rawcliffe Road in Goole, East Yorkshire, UK. There is no charge for the event.
