Owens-Illinois (O-I) has partnered with Brazilian pasteurised milk producer Cooper to launch the ´Leite Cooper Premium´ in a one-litre glass bottle.
The idea for the bottle arose from a consumer survey which indicated that glass bottles offer better taste, purity, and quality. The bottle has been designed to facilitate daily use with a glass ring below the lid that prevents it from slipping. Many consumers surveyed also stated that they would be inclined to buy milk in glass bottles as it reminds them of the past.
The Leite Cooper Premium is vacuum sealed and treated in a process to reduce the number of micro-organisms. The milk will initially be available in supermarkets and bakeries in 22 cities, in addition to the home delivery service the company offers to some 12,000 people daily.
