Lisa Myers, owner of Char’s Stained Glass & Gifts, is celebrating her one year anniversary of ownership. Char’s is the only shop in the area that has stained glass classes, does custom work and makes repairs. Lisa also has a variety of glass gifts made by her customers and some pieces she has personally made. She said, “People come in with photographs that they want to turn into stained glass pieces, and when they see the finished piece, they are astounded!”
Lisa, who has a MBA and works part time as a CFO for SouthSTAR Services, a nonprofit for people with disabilities, is fortunate to have a few Vietnam Veterans helping run the store and keep her organized. “I am married to a Desert Storm Vet and know what he went through,” Lisa said. “It is very heartening to know that the Vietnam Vets gave so much to our country and now are giving to me. They are fantastic people!”
It is extremely poignant that October is the anniversary of Lisa’s ownership of the shop, which is Breast Cancer awareness month. Lisa is a breast cancer survivor. “I don’t really think about that too much,” Lisa said. “I am one of the fortunate ones. My goal in life is to do as much as I can for others and in turn, enrich my own life. It’s sometimes difficult to stretch the way you have to when you own your own business! There are so many balls to keep bouncing! I want everyone to feel that sense of achievement when they walk out the door with their project.”
