Sept. 30, 2013 (LBT) - Piramal Glass Ceylon is steadily moving towards realizing its vision of being the most preferred specialty glass packaging solutions provider in Asia by meeting customer expectation through innovative designs and manufacturing, said Sanjay Tiwari, MD / CEO of the company.
Complemented with the required quality certifications, whilst working closely with its international customers to meet the stringent quality requirements of various markets, Primal Glass Ceylon (PGC) is poised to further enhance its performance, said Tivari after accepting the award for Most Outstanding Exporter in Large Industry Sector at the 21st Annual National Chamber of Exporters Awards.
He accepted the award from Dr Priyath Bandu Wickrama, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) at the ceremony held at the Colombo Hilton on September 20.
Piramal Glass Ceylon PLC is a leading glass container manufacturer and a member of the Piramal Group with production facilities located in India and USA, as well as Sri Lanka. PGC with a history of over five decades in Sri Lanka, started focusing its attention on export markets with the establishment of a 250MT per day production facility in Horana.
Over the last six years PGC has been able to built its reputation for stringent quality and unique bottle shapes and colours which were unmatched by manufacturers in Asia. This unique manufacturing ability coupled with the service offered has enabled the company to increase exports of its glass containers to many international markets.
The company won its 4th consecutive Gold award in the Large Industry segment in the Ceramic sector at the recently concluded NCE awards ceremony.
Tivari also said that the award winners were selected by a very elite panel of judges and it is a testimony of our performance. In spite of the prevailing difficult global economic conditions and tough competition from many of the international low cost manufacturers, Piramal Glass Ceylon has shown a healthy growth in its operations.
The Piramal Glass CEO attributed the Company’s success to its dedicated management team and long term strategies implemented by the Company that have helped to grow the export market, while successfully entering new markets in the region.
The Company is accredited for ISO 9001:2008 certification, FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System) certification and PAS 223:2011 (Pre requisite programmes and design requirement) certification.
The National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) is the only private sector Chamber which exclusively serves Sri Lankan Exporters and is the ‘Voice of the Exporter’. Incorporated in 1994 the NCE has a membership of over 450 export oriented companies covering all products and services.
The National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka which conducts the annual export award ceremony to recognize and encourage the performance of the Sri Lankan exporters, held its 21st Annual NCE Export Awards Ceremony recently.
