A CHURCH congregation will unveil a stained glass window after a year-long campaign to celebrate the building’s 175th anniversary.
Christ Church in Harwood has raised enough money to replace three windows in the Lomax Chapel in time for the anniversary in 2015.
The new window will be unveiled at special evening ceremony on Sunday with the Bishop of Bolton, the Right Reverend Christopher Edmondson in attendance.
Stained glass artist Andrew Seddon of Classical Glass in Breightmet, has completed the new design which is based on the Biblical scripture for the Pentecost — “I will pour out my spirit on all people.”
It comprises of 492 pieces of coloured glass — mainly blues and purples and orange flames to depict the outpouring of the spirit.
To fund the window, people are invited to dedicate a piece of glass for £35 and in return they will receive a personalised, numbered certificate.
People can still dedicate their piece in memory of a loved one, or as a gift to someone for their wedding or birthday.
