SHAMROCK, TX – Call it a sign of the times. A sad one.
Outside of schools in Shamrock, Texas, signs have been installed warning that staff is armed and they may use force if necessary. On top of that, the district installed bullet proof glass and 30 security cameras. It’s all part of a $150,000 initiative that started more than a year ago.
“We want people, when they drive up to our campus, to realize that we have taken the steps to protect our kids and our staff,” says Wes Beck, Superintendent, Shamrock Independent School District.
The superintendent says the signs are not necessarily motivated by the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut last December.
