For the very first time since its inception, ASEAN’s most established Glass Products and Technology show, Glasstech Asia 2013, makes its debut on Malaysian shores.

Reputed as the “Glass Hub of Southeast Asia”, Glasstech Asia is an unparalleled exhibition that provides regional players with a deeper insight into the glass manufacturing, processing, products and material sectors. It is therefore an excellent platform for industry players across the globe to set foot and tap into the growing Southeast Asian market.

This year’s event, expected to attract 250 exhibitors from 30 countries as well as 4,500 trade professionals, is projected to generate some US$18.5 million business deals, contributing significantly to the country’s economic growth.

The Malaysian glass industry is a well-established one that is still growing at all levels and sectors. Having invested over RM500 million in manufacturing facilities and created more than 10,000 jobs, it is without a doubt that Malaysia is well-placed to host Glasstech Asia 2013 We strongly believe this event will help boost the rapidly-growing local glass industry,” said Mr Ho Sai Woo, Chairman of the Malaysian Glass Association (MGA), during the press conference held in Kuala Lumpur on 29 October.

MGA is the local host of the Glasstech Asia 2013 which is co-organised by the Singapore Glass Association (SGA) and Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd (CEMS).

According to Mr Edward Liu, CEMS Group Managing Director, there has been tremendous response from exhibitors and visitors all over the region and across various industries, to attend this year’s event. “This year’s show about 20% larger in terms of exhibitors and exhibition space compared to Glasstech Asia 2012 which was held in Thailand. With the healthy growth in Malaysia’s glass industry, we felt it was an opportune time to hold this year’s event in Kuala Lumpur.”

Said Mr Gan Chee Siong, Chairman, Singapore Glass Association (SGA), “The conference will see various members of the industry including architects, distributors and suppliers of glass machinery and parts, engineers, glass manufacturers, glaziers, interior designers, property developers as well as window and façade installers – coming together to discuss and exchange knowledge on the evolution of glass and its role in the future.”

Apart from serving as a knowledge-sharing and exchange platform for key industry players, Glasstech Asia 2013 will also create an ideal platform for networking between industry members in the glass manufacturing and services industries, including the 11th Malaysia Glass Association Friendship Golf.

This year’s exhibition will feature seven (7) dedicated pavilions from China, Italy, Malaysia, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan and the UK which cover five (5) key building elements including aluminium façade, doors & windows, flat & float glass, glass accessories and hollow glass.

Also present at the press conference was Ar. Chan Seong Aun, President of Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM), who said that the conference was a unique opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas on the latest trends and cutting-edge developments in glass.

I am certain that Glasstech Asia will go a long way in raising the profile of the glass manufacturing, processing and related industries in Malaysia and in the ASEAN region. It will also provide an ideal platform for industry members from different ends of the spectrum to exchange ideas, share knowledge and keep abreast with latest developments from both the manufacturers’ and consumers’ perspectives,” he said.

As the world and Malaysia adopts increasingly eco-friendly and sustainable building and construction practices, the glass industry is in a unique position to take advantage of this shift.

In a bid to highlight issues and developments in “green” buildings and construction, Glasstech Asia 2013 will feature two key seminars: The Green Building Seminar 2013, focusing on ‘Glass & Façade: The Green Building Perspective’ and the Pertubuhan Arikitek Malaysia Professional Architectural Glass Seminar with the theme “Our Glass Solutions; Our Key to Success.”

Scheduled to be held from November 25-27, 2013 at Halls 3 to 6, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Glasstech Asia 2013 is strictly open to professional trade and business visitors only.
