Gerresheimer’s comprehensive portfolio of products extends from simple pharmaceutical vials to complex drug delivery systems. It will be providing information about new solutions for the pharma industry in the Innopack area of the CPhI fair in Frankfurt from October 22 to 24, 2013 (booth 41G36). Three Gerresheimer experts will also be talking about trends and innovations at Innopack Speaker’s Corner on Wednesday October 23.The Gerresheimer experts will be at the stand in Hall 41G36 to provide advice and information to customers and interested visitors. The exhibits include proven and popular glass and plastic packaging products and systems for the world of pharmaceuticals. The Tubular Glass Division uses glass tubes as the input material for a comprehensive range of high quality pharmaceutical packaging products. Tubular Glass exhibits include vials, ampoules and cartridges in numerous filling sizes and designs and prefillable syringes, including the flagship RTF® sterile syringe systems. The Moulded Glass Division manufactures high-quality injection and infusion bottles as well as dropper and tablet bottles of various types, shapes and sizes in glass categories I, II and III.Gerresheimer’s Plastic Packaging Division specializes in plastic packaging products for the pharma industry. Its comprehensive product portfolio extends from plastic packaging products for solid pharmaceuticals such as drugs and powders to containers for liquid drugs, including ophthalmic and rhinological applications. As a full-service provider, Medical Plastic Systems has a portfolio covering all stages of the development and production process. It manufactures complex, customer-specific plastic systems for pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical applications. Drug delivery systems enable the simple and fast administration of mediations. Plastic drug delivery systems include, for instance, inhalers, pens and syringes. Gerresheimer produces and assembles components for a range of laboratory analysis systems and tests performed at medical practices and in hospital, as well as skin-prick aids and lancets for diabetics.Three Gerresheimer experts at Innnopack Speaker’s Corner on Wednesday, October 23Dr. Bernhard Hinsch, Director Quality Management TGE at Gerresheimer Bünde, will be talking about “Pharmaceutical tubular glass vials. Enhanced manufacturing and inspection technology for achievement of premium quality levels” at Speakers Corner from 10 - 10.25 a.m. Pharmaceutical tubular glass vials for demanding biotech applications have to be manufactured with purpose-designed glass forming equipment. Quality by Design (QbD) starts with the requirement specification for the vial forming line and special accessories such as in-line inspection systems. This presentation also covers the product characteristics and applications of premium quality vials.Bernd Zeiss, Manager Technical Pre-Sales Support at Gerresheimer Tubular Glass will be at Speakers Corner from 2.30 - 2.55 p.m. with a presentation entitled “Syringe function - Technical aspects of prefillable glass and COP polymer syringes”. The increasingly widespread use of prefillable syringes (PFS) is raising questions on syringe function and ease of use. Break loose and gliding forces are two of the syringe´s key features. They are a good indication of the robustness and quality of the manufacturing process and the most important properties for the medical doctors, nurses and patients who use the syringe to administer medical drugs. Bernd Zeiss will be discussing the various properties of prefillable syringes, including different siliconization methods (spray and baked-on), different stoppering methods (vent tube and vacuum stoppering), different plunger stopper designs, the impact of storage over time and different barrel materials: glass and COP.“High performance Plastic Vials – Improved gas barrier” – Dr. Wolfgang Dirk, Product Manager Parenteral and Business Development at Gerresheimer Plastic Packaging will be talking about the key performance characteristics of Gerresheimer´s recently launched Multishell® vials from 3 - 3.25 p.m. The vials provide the pharma industry with a glass-like transparent container with superior break-resistance for improved safety. Dr. Dirk will also be explaining the high gas barrier performance of multilayer plastic vials as compared to glass and monolayer polyolefin vials.Links to further information: Gerresheimer Tubular Glass Gerresheimer Moulded Glass Gerresheimer Plastic Packaging Gerresheimer Medical Plastic Systems 24.09.2013, Gerresheimer AG
