Scheuten, specializing in the development and production of high-quality glass products, is to supply more than 1,600 m² of solar control insulated glazing for the new and renovated buildings of the TweeSteden hospital in Tilburg. Glass plays a prominent role in the design of the entrance hall by Hooper Architects as well as the new outpatients´ building which follows the design of Wiegerinck Architecten. For the purposes of the entrance hall, Scheuten is producing glass elements that span the full height of a storey. Scheuten is supplying the glass by order of façade construction firm AKS Bouw BV. BAM Utiliteitsbouw is the primary contractor for the project, which will be delivered in its entirety in the spring of 2013.Scheuten will produce the glass in three different compositions, ensuring optimum fine-tuning to the function of the glass in the façades. Thus the façades on the east, south and west sides will be fitted with solar control insulation glazing with the maximum level of solar control (Isolide® Brilliant 62/29) in combination with a high degree of transparency. The glass for the entrance hall, which exceeds 700 m², is supplied with a solar control coating in combination with a decorative silk-screen print on the glass. The sizeable quantity of glass will ensure a transparent main entrance and a more open image for the hospital. The glass that Scheuten is to supply forms part of the energetic façade concept that aims to bring about a sustainable, energy-efficient building. In addition to the integration of the various compositions of glass, elements like a green roof and geothermal storage are to be used. The intention is to complete the main entrance and the new visitors´ restaurant contained therein this autumn. The new outpatients´ building will be finished in the spring of 2013. Paul Heiligers, Director Scheuten Glass Benelux: “New projects are thin on the ground at present, which is why it´s good to see that despite an economic headwind we are able to build on our good relationships in the glass market.AKS Bouw BV is a good partner who we love working with. The TweeSteden hospital is a great project to add to our joint portfolio.” 27.06.2012, Scheuten
