At their company´s headquarters in Coesfeld-Lette, the clothing chain Ernsting´s family GmbH & Co. KG has constructed a new high-bay storage. The building is not only attractive because of its height of 28 metres, its 22,000 pallet spaces, or the fully automatic delivery of the whole clothing assortment - from socks to jackets - from this site to the different stores. It is the glass facade made of triple-glazed laminated glass with crash glass that makes this steel monster a sensational industrial structure with event character: the inside movement of goods becomes visible from the outside. In addition, the south-western side of the building has a solar facade placed seven metres from the actual wall of the store. Together with the roof elements, the facade generates a total of at least 206,000 kWh per year. The use oflaminated safety glasswith a crash glass laminated pane required the clarification of questions resulting from building and physical regulations. Thanks to the close co-operation between the approving supreme building authority the commissioned structural engineer, the technical office of the performing facade construction company, and the applications engineering of the FLACHGLAS Wernberg GmbH it was possible to obtain in the individual case an approval under building law for this facade. Last but not least, some tricky questions on the proof of usability and the response of the PV-module-elements in the event of fire needed to be resolved. But our Wernberg professionals could resolve all these questions for the client.Fortunately, we really love to place high demands on ourselves - and also to meet them. This applies both to the production and to assuring a smooth construction sequence by supplying all panes and PV-modules in mounting order. The building concept does not only fascinate our client but has also been awarded the Gold Certificate by the German Association for Sustainable Building (´DGNB´). 05.12.2012, FLACHGLAS Wernberg GmbH
