5th WORKSHOP FOR NEW RESEARCHERS IN GLASS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYGLASSES: FORMATION, STRUCTURE, AND TRANSPORT PROPERTIESMONTPELLIER (France)8th-12th JULY 2013This workshop will overview key fundamentals in glass science with an emphasis on structure-property relationships. Each day will start with a talk on available measurement/simulation methodologies and their contribution to our understanding of glass structure, both on different length scales and for a broad spectrum of inorganic glass-forming systems. These lectures will underpin talks on properties and their structural dependence e.g. optical behaviour, viscosity and ageing, nucleation and crystallisation. In this fifth programme of the series, special attention will be given to transport properties, such as ionic and water diffusion. The lectures will be presented by world experts in their fields. A significant aspect of the workshop will be student-centred projects that encourage interactive learning and help you to develop your understanding by applying what you have learned to specific issues. Is this for you ?If you are a new PhD student or have recently started research in the glass industry then the answer is yes.Pre-registration : Deadline 01 / 05 / 2013By a simple email to verres2013@mycema.frRegistration : Deadline 01 / 06 / 2013Normal fee : 500 €Reduced fee : 280 € for students and members of academic staff. The fee includes welcome reception, conference dinner, and 2 coffee breaks and a lunch per day.Lodging and meals :220 €, including 5 nights lodging with breakfast in a student residence at the University.Final date for lodging reservation is 01/05/2013.
