glasstec 2012, set for Oct. 23-26, inDüsseldorf, Germany, will once again feature a number of special events and meetings, including the "glass technology live" show, Technical Symposium, Fa?ades Centre, International Architectural Congress, Engineered Transparency Conference, and Solar meets Glass event.
glass technology liveThe glass technology live show, organized by Professor Stefan Behling and his team at the Institute of Building Construction at Stuttgart University, will occupy more than 26,900 square feet of space on the glasstec show floor. It will focus on building integrated photovoltaics under the heading “Integrative Glass Functions" and will include a"Facade and Design" component, in which Professor Behling and his team will present large, hot and cold-bent glass lites. A "Design and Interior" segment will focuses on trends in interior glass design.
Technical SymposiumThe Technical Symposium will include more than 60 lectures and presentations from research institutes, associations, companies and architects. Like glass technology live, the symposium will focus on the future of the glass sector both in technical and aesthetic terms. Symposium topics for 2012 include energy efficiency in the glass melting process, energy and resource-efficient technologies in glass machinery construction, integrative building skins, and innovative manufacturing technologies for solar products and applications.
The Fa?ades CentreWith themes relating to energy efficient and functional building skins, the Fa?ades Centre at glasstec 2012 will target fa?ade planners, construction engineers and architects, as well as the craftsmen installing them. The centre will feature exhibitor presentations, innovative fa?ade mock-ups in the neighboring glass technology live show, and the new Centre of Expertise Glass, Window, Fa?ade. The centre will provide institutes and associations the opportunity to share information, according to organizers.Represented at the centre will be EuroWindow, the German Flat Glass Manufacturers’ Association, and the Window Engineering Institute.
International Architectural CongressOrganized by the North Rhine-Westphalian Chamber of Architects, the Technical University of Delft and Ostwestfalen-Lippe University, the International Architectural Congress will take place October 24. Targeting architects, structural engineers, construction engineers and fa?ade planners, the congress will feature international architecture firms presenting spectacular projects, according to organizers.
Engineered Transparency ConferenceThe technical Engineered Transparency Conference will take place Oct. 25-26. It will focus on the latest developments in structural engineering with glass (stress/strain and stability, laminates and composites, uni-axially and bi-axially bent glass); the building physics behavior of fa?ades (building skin and texture, energy and sustainability, projects and case studies); and the use of solar systems in architecture (building integration and design, construction supervision requirements for solar module design).
Solar meets GlassSolar meets Glass, the 3rd Industry Summit for Markets, Costs and Technology, will be held Oct. 22-23 and will focus on current topics affecting both the solar and glass industries. In addition to providing an overview of PV and glass markets and technologies, it will examine topics such as future-proof markets, cost cutting and technology development.
More informationsolarpeq 2012– the International Trade Fair for Solar Production Equipment – also will be held concurrently with glasstec. To complement the solar products and applications on display at glasstec, solarpeq will cover manufacturing technology for crystalline and thin-film photovoltaics.
