Gerresheimer AG, one of the world’s leading suppliers to the pharma and healthcare industry, is conso-lidating its growth business unit Medical Plastic Systems by investing EUR 3.5 million in the Wackersdorf (Germany) facility where the Technical Competence Center (TCC) for medical plastic systems development is located. Now the TCC will have an Engi-neering and Sales Center annexed to it.“We believe there are significant growth opportunities in the medical plastic systems market. One example is the diabetes sector, which gains in significance globally. In the project and solution-oriented medical plastic systems business, the keys to success are quality, competence and individual customer support. By pooling our development, engi-neering and sales competence at one single location we can further improve our service to customers,” commented Uwe R?hrhoff, CEO of Gerresheimer AG.A two-level building with around 3,000 square meters of total floor space will be annexed to the Technical Competence Center at the Wackersdorf site. Construction work will commence in April 2011 and completion is scheduled for March 2012.Gerresheimer Medical Plastic Systems is a business unit of the Plastic Systems division which produces insulin pens for diabetics, inhalers, skin-prick aids and disposable laboratory articles for leading pharma, diagnostics and medical technology corporations – from the initial design sketches, through tool making and production to packaging and just-in-time delivery.
