Joint AAMA and IGMA Task Group Formed to Create Content on Allowable Obstructions in Glass

Post Time:Mar 04,2013Classify:Industry NewsView:119

Members of AAMA’s Glass Material Council (GMC) Marketing Committee and Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance's (IGMA) Visual Quality Task Group are developing a consumer guide for homeowners which will explain allowable glass obstructions according to industry standards.

Following AAMA Board of Directors’ approval at the 2012 Summer Conference, the AAMA/IGMA Understanding Glass Standards White Paper Task Group was formed. During the 76th Annual Conference, task group members reviewed a draft of the consumer guide, which currently focuses on the following topics: scratches, fingerprints, dirt/debris, spacer migration and suction cup marks.

Within two weeks of the Annual Conference, a draft of the white paper will be distributed to task group members for additional input. Task group members will be asked to send the draft to their customer service representatives and other interested parties to better gauge the questions customers ask about glass obstructions. Comments will be address by way of conference call in April.
