For the Glasstec fair in Düsseldorf Octatube has realized a glass wall for
The undulating wall is 2.8 meters high and 12 meters long. The largest challenge was to realize a transparent wall and maximize the potential of the glass tubes.
This has been achieved by using very thin horizontal stainless steel connectors to fix the glass. The main structure consists of glass tubes with a diameter of 200 millimeters, stabilized by tensile elements at the inside of the tubes. Together with the horizontal glass fixation this gives the wall its stability. The smaller glass tubes are elements to fill up the surface of the wall.
The middle tubes are illuminated by LEDs, showing the possibilities of lighting in combination with these sandblasted glass tubes.
Beyond this specific application of glass tubes the wall is a real design object that will fit in different interior spaces.
