GLASSOLUTIONS has strengthened its ties with the insurance industry by becoming a lead sponsor of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA).
The CILA is an organisation of individual members and sets the professional and ethical standards for those who work in the handling of losses. It also provides the examination structure which enables its members to obtain the highest professional qualifications in claims handling, for example, ACILA and FCILA.
In sponsoring CILA’s Claims Management Special Interest Group, GLASSOLUTIONS will contribute to the knowledge base for, and continuous improvement of, claims processes. It will do this by offering guidance and technical insights into best practice relating to everything from glass replacement and lock replacement, to garage door repair and even greenhouse glass repairs.
The move formalises GLASSOLUTIONS’ long established relationship with the loss adjusting sector, with which it has worked alongside many of the country’s leading insurers and brokers.
Darren Dickinson, GLASSOLUTIONS Installation service director, says: “It’s in everyone’s interests that insurance claims such as those for flooding or fire damage are dealt with in the most efficient and satisfactory way. As the profession has evolved to more desk-based decision making, technical knowledge is more important than ever for CILA members and this is why we believe strongly in suppliers like GLASSOLUTIONS developing their relationships.
“It’s important that loss adjusters understand the breadth of our capability too. Coupled with our highly professional approach, nationwide coverage and 24/7 operation, we can help loss adjusters simplify their claims management process as a single source supplier for every door and window related eventuality.”
The loss adjusting profession emerged from the Great Fire of London on 1666, with the introduction of fire insurance on buildings, independent surveyors and tradesmen were soon using their expertise in settling claims. By the late 18th century, the major fire insurers were appointing “assessors” to act for them exclusively and a number of today’s leading loss adjusting firms can trace their roots back to those early days.
It was almost three decades later that the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters was formed in 1961. An organisation of individual members, the Institute sets the professional and ethical standards for those who work in the handling of losses, providing an examination structure that enables members to obtain the highest professional qualifications in claims handling.
