Big time glazing in the Big Apple

Post Time:Jun 01,2013Classify:Industry NewsView:167

GGR’s glass suckers have been used to glaze many high-rise buildings in UK cities, but here’s one of the bestselling lifters in the Woods Powr-Grip range working on an architectural masterpiece across the pond in N.Y.C.

The IAC Building, in the Chelsea neighbourhood of Manhattan, New York, was designed by world famous architect Frank Gehry. Completed in 2007, this ten storey structure was the first of Gehry’s to be clad entirely with glass. The worldwide headquarters of the InterActiveCorp stands at 511 feet tall and was named by Vanity Fair magazine as the world’s most attractive office building.

Here is a dual circuit P11104 Four-in-Line lifter installing sheets of glass onto this incredible looking structure. This 320kg capacity glass lifter features 180° lockable rotation and manual tilt function for precisely manoeuvring glazed units into position for quick and simple installation.

The IAC building is made up of 1,437 panels in total, the super-strong glass was even tested using a turbo engine to simulate hurricane force winds blasting against it!
