GlassFest 2013 Celebrates Corning's History

GlassFest 2013 ended with a sunny day and a big crowd. “It's always nice to have something I’ve made go home with someone else,” says artist Zachary Wickham.

Wickham went to Alfred State for ceramics and visual arts. He keeps his day job as a construction worker, but says coming to GlassFest is a rewarding way for him to make money as an artist.

“I don't really have other venues to sell the work I have. It’s not being sold in galleries, so it's nice to be able to come here and sell glass directly to customers in a place where people are already thinking about glass,” he says.

GlassFest 2013 celebrates nearly 150 years of glass and ceramic production and innovation in Corning.
